That Time I Was In GQ
Even though the statement comes with enough caveats to choke a horse, it’s nice to be able to say “Oh yeah, I was in GQ one time.” You know, without lying, like when I said it before.
The caveats? Well, for starters we’re talking about GQ Japan. It says GQ on the cover, so we’re still good. GQ is a pretty recent addition to Japanese magazine racks, and it’s not really well-known. In fact, I don’t know any Japanese people who had heard of it before I asked.
Also, I was only in the magazine because of work. They had an article on Japanese offices which speak English as an official language. Lucky me, I work in such an office, and I can add some exotic color to the photo shoot. So I sat down with Sanae, Bryan, and Miz, and we spoke English like champions.
Then there’s the actual photo. “Photo” is perhaps generous. “Tiny blobs of color, one of which is shaped like Andrew,” would be more accurate. I suggest looking at the zoomed-in version and thinking, “Ah, yes, this is how Seurat would depict Andrew. Very nice!”
OK, so hardly enough to go around bragging about “that time I was in GQ”, but if someone ever pulls it on me, I can come back with a casual “oh yeah, me too.” Tune in next time for my no-doubt imminent appearances in Martha Stewart Living and Soldier of Fortune.

Hmm, “G Kyu”. Is that like the Google equivalent of A9.com?

With any luck, Andrew will soon be making an appearance in the numerous swimsuit issues of French magazines that continue to appear on this side of the Atlantic just as the winter solstice approaches.
